Summer is almost upon us and if you are a homeowner then now is the perfect time to be thinking about all the essential home improvements your property needs this season. Finances will be tight in many households but that does not mean that you cannot do something to revive your home.
If aluminium conservatories and aluminium windows are beyond your financial means then why not instead look into getting aluminium French doors as they can add a real touch of class to your home.
As the name suggests, French doors originate from France towards the end of the renaissance era, but still retain huge popularity in both the UK and across the continent. Placed at the rear of a home they look simply exquisite …

Give Aluminium The Attention It Deserves

Author: Tarriq  |  Leave a Comment >>

When homeowners approach Hazlemere for high-quality home improvements most of them usually associate a brand new conservatory, window or door with UPVC. What many are unaware of is the ability of aluminium to do just as good a job at making their property look really secure and stylish.
Aluminium conservatories, aluminium windows and aluminium doors from Hazlemere also have a staying power that few products can match or better. This is due to the fact that aluminium is one of the most durable materials on the market and able to fight off, rot, rust, moisture and the powerful natural rays of the sun. It is also extremely environmentally-friendly.

One of the other great things about aluminium-based products supplied, fitted and installed by the team …

Energy Companies Accused Of Neglecting Needy UK Households

Author: Tarriq  |  Leave a Comment >>

The rising cost of energy in the UK over the past few years has left thousands of less well-off homes desperately struggling to afford the cost of their heating bills.
Because of this, a scheme called the Community Energy Saving Programme was introduced in 2009 by the government which requires our major energy companies to offer energy efficiency measures for free or at a very low cost to households in deprived communities.
However, it has been reported that the Big Six energy firms look set to fail to meet their obligations and have asked that the deadline is put back. Shadow energy minister Caroline Flint has stated that this is simply unacceptable:

“Energy companies are failing to keep their side of the deal and help …

Coalition legislation now means UK homes must be greener to qualify for the higher Feed-in-Tariff

Author: Mark Austin  |  Leave a Comment >>

Since 1st April 2012, the Coalition Government has brought a new energy efficiency requirement for householders installing solar PV into force. Consequently from now on only UK homeowners with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of Band D or better (with an “A” rating being the best) will be eligible for the standard tariff of 21p/kWh for each unit they generate. For properties with EPC’s of E, F or G (with G being the lowest performing homes energy efficiency wise) householders will only now receive the lower rate tariff of 9p/kWh should they decide to install solar panels, or indeed decide not to improve their homes so they achieve an EPC or better.

An article on the Energy Saving Trust’s website entitled “Energy Performance Certificates and

Give Aluminium Windows And Doors Serious Consideration

Author: Tarriq  |  Leave a Comment >>

Just a few short years ago, when UK homeowners were considering replacing their existing windows and doors the only options they would contemplate would be UPVC or traditional timber frames but times have changed and so have buyer tastes. Aluminium frames are now hugely popular amongst property owners up and down the land and it is not difficult to see why as they offer a host of benefits:

Shapes and sizes for every type of home
The installation of aluminium windows and aluminium doors can completely transform the entire appearance of a home so you need to make sure that you get a window or door that sits easily. Luckily enough aluminium comes in a range of different shapes and sizes so finding an equally well-sized …

Author: Tarriq  |  Leave a Comment >>

Buying a home is one of the biggest steps you will make in your lifetime. It will also be one of the largest investments you make. Like anything you spend a lot of money on, you need to protect that investment as much as you possibly can which means that you should look to improve your home as time progresses.
You may have no intention of selling your home in the near future, but that doesn’t mean that you should not give it the attention it deserves. By constantly improving your home you are more likely to increase its resale value which will come in very handy should there ever come a time when you want to sell up.

UK homes need double glazing in order to save energy

Author: Mark Austin  |  Leave a Comment >>

With today’s ever increasing energy bills, it really is worthwhile for UK home owners to replace inefficient windows and doors with thermally efficient ones. That said, so that the property gets the full benefit from investing in double or triple glazing one must also insulate the loft properly, plus install cavity wall insulation or solid wall insulation dependent on the type of house and manner of construction.

The seemingly never ending increases in the cost of energy when combined with environmental and sustainability reasons makes the need to insulate any UK property essential, despite the fact no one can argue that there is an initial investment required. For home owners planning on moving rather than improving, there is still the basic requirement of actually being …

Make Aluminium Your Home Improvement Material Of Choice

Author: Tarriq  |  Leave a Comment >>

Home improvement is essential if you want to make your home a better place. The home is where we spend the majority of our daily lives so it makes sense to give it the attention it needs as a good looking property is something you can take tremendous pride in. Of course, there are a wide range of things you can do to enhance your home, but replacing your current windows and doors should be high on the agenda of any contemporary homeowner.

When people replace their windows or doors nowadays they usually opt for a UPVC frame as it has fantastic insulation properties and needs very little looking after in terms of maintenance. But it is worth your while to also look into aluminium …

When is a door not a door?……………………………..

Author: Mark Austin  |  Leave a Comment >>

It’s funny how we still remember some of the old saying and jokes our school friends and parents told us………particularly the bad ones! That said, in this energy conservation age, thermally efficiency wise, a door in practical terms is not actually a door (in the energy saving sense) when it is a-jar, as obviously when open a door lets out all the energy that has been generated by the property’s heating system.

A door is also not a door when it is a-jar in the security sense either, as it is designed to provide access and egress for the property’s owner(s), visitors and guests. You don’t find many UK households today who leave their front and/or back doors unlocked at night! I do know a …

5 bed Beaconsfield Pilkington K Glass home up for sale

Author: Hazlemere Windows  |  Leave a Comment >>

It is not everyday that such a spacious and practical well positioned low maintenance five bedroom detached Seeleys home comes onto the market, two minutes from Beaconsfield Train Station by car (or 8 minutes walk!) that has a decent energy performance certificate, having had the cavity wall insulation and loft insulation professionally fitted on 1st February 2011.

However, what massively helps cut the costs of energy bills at the property is the high quality replacement aluminium double glazing that Hazlemere Window Company fitted back in April 1994. All the double glazed aluminium windows and doors have Pilkington K Glass, which helps retain the heat generated by the gas fired central heating system. The 17 year old white powder coated aluminium frames even to this day …
