I was personally particularly pleased and grateful to High Wycombe’s Conservative MP Steve Baker, who kindly took time out on Friday 13th May 2011 to pop along to “officially” open Hazlemere Window Company Ltd’s new 8,000 square foot home improvement showroom on Cressex Business Park. Steve cut the ribbon to open this independently family owned and run double glazing showroom, which features the very latest thermally efficient home improvement products in UPVC, composite and aluminium materials. In the above photo, the company’s major shareholder and Managing Director Stuart Braham is on the left of the above photo, with Steve Baker central and Tony Beale, Hazlemere’s Sales Director on the right.

Why are energy rated replacement UPVC windows such a good investment?

Author: Hazlemere Windows  |  Leave a Comment >>

UPVC replacement windows here in the UK are usually designed with five fundamental principles in mind: aesthetics, security, energy efficiency, durability and user-friendliness. Traditionally UPVC has slightly more chunkier frames that aluminium or timber frames, but can achieve the best energy rating as a result.

For the technical minded, as an example of the quality of UPVC windows available nowadays, here’s a list of reasons why the energy rated UPVC windows supplied and fitted by Hazlemere Windows genuinely stand out from the crowd, both energy efficiency, and therefore energy saving wise and security wise too:

* All windows are internally glazed so that glass cannot be removed from the outside

* Impact resistant 70mm UPVC frame with 3mm external wall

* The multi-chamber…

Choosing a supplier because they can be “quick” is not always wise

Author: Hazlemere Windows  |  Leave a Comment >>

The last thing home owners want to end up with from a double glazing company is a hurried, miss-measured, badly fitted, wrongly specified or poor quality inefficient product. Any of these unfortunate outcomes can result in unwanted hassle trying to get it sorted. Property owners are better to take their time chosing the best suited energy saving product (and supplier) for their premises, rather than run the risk of ending up with a second rate poorly installed product, all for the sake of a few weeks or a few hundred pounds. When considering replacement double glazing, it is worth approaching well established independent local firms that offer a genuine no obligation free home consultation by an experienced windows and doors expert. From the very start,…

Ten tips when considering replacement double glazing

Author: Hazlemere Windows  |  Leave a Comment >>

Following are ten tips from industry professionals to help UK property owners get the best value for money deal when investing in replacement double glazed windows and doors for their home.

1. Nothing in life is “free”
Nothing is free, so whatever the inducement be it marketing scrappage schemes, “free” installation, no VAT (which of course legally has to be paid by the company you buy from to Her Majesty’s Government if the firm is VAT registered), they all might sound good but they all have to be paid for, so remember these will be built into the price of the windows or the “extras”. It is therefore important to compare like for like specifications, as well as the entire offering.

2. Always try

UPVC replacement windows save energy and money

Author: Hazlemere Windows  |  Leave a Comment >>

UPVC windows were initially created in reaction to the fact that conventional supplies of energy were diminishing and the window was one of the main causes of this. Frames used on old windows, such as timber and crittal steel windows, tended to become less and less reliable as time progressed, especially as they began to get older and consequently less thermally efficient. This resulted (and still results today in hundreds of thousands of UK properties) in draughts appearing in the home and an awful lot of energy being wasted. New windows counteract this, so it is essential from an energy saving point of view that all modern day homes invest in them to reduce costs and cut carbon emissions.

Should one buy replacement double or triple glazing?

Author: Hazlemere Windows  |  Leave a Comment >>

The simple answer is either, as frankly it really depends on what you are trying to achieve, along with how quickly, plus how long you plan to stay in your current property as both double glazing and triple glazing have their own separate benefits, pros and cons.

To start with, at present double glazing costs less too install than triple glazing as a) it is less expensive to manufacture and b) it contains less materials i.e. particularly glass. Also “A” rated double glazed windows are highly thermally efficient, otherwise they would not have achieved the highest possible energy rating, so are not vastly inferior to triple glazing.

However, despite the fact that triple glazing is more costly to buy, it offers two benefits that…
