I do despair at unscrupulous sales tactics still used today by some double glazing sales persons. Lying and deceiving just to get an order is a very sad indictment of not just the person who does this, but also their company, and reflects badly on those within the double glazing industry who are highly professional and offer a genuine service.
Having come from outside the industry, it still staggers me that that some salesmen today think the hard sell is still the way to go. The number of comments we get from wary customers who have had bad experiences with representatives from National double glazing companies is well over a hundreds since I joined Hazlemere Windows in 2008. Any double glazing company teaching or allowing…

The Energy Bill will allow householders to pay for environmentally-friendly improvements to their homes, such as double-glazing and loft insulation, from the savings they make by using less gas and electricity under a new Green Deal.
Energy and Climate Change Secretary Chris Huhne has described the scheme as “the first of its kind anywhere in the world” and has said it would insure against future energy price rises while at the same time helping the poorest families save…
Continue To Full StoryUK consumers researching considering replacement double glazing or triple glazing might well be baffled by the fact that there are three competing organisations all claiming to offer them the best double glazing advice on which company or companies they should deal with.
I read an article on the Telegraph.co.uk website entitled “Property Advice” which looked at the fact that double glazing customers now have three companies to distinguish between, which wanting advice on double glazing and which firms are reputable etc.
The article stated that “window manufacturers and installers are not obliged to belong to any kind of scheme at all. Membership of FENSA (Fenestration Self-Assessment) simply means they can certify their own products as complying with the thermal-insulation requirements of the Building Regulations…

Having just had yet another Indian Summer in September, I am sure local owners of Indian take aways and restaurant will therefore welcome the onset of Autumn and Winter.
That said, one of the most pleasant experiences one can have curry wise in this country is to sit outside on a warm Summer’s evening at the Spice Merchant in London End, Old Beaconsfield (on the A40 near Rosehill Instruments music shop), where the owner Bashir invested several years ago now in a quite stunning landscaped garden. Not only are the tables and chairs high quality, there are heat…

The product looks like aluminium but in fact has a specially designed PVC-U thermal break that means the System10 Aluminium can be used in places where traditional aluminium windows cannot. Due to its inventive design System10 Aluminium can be specified for UK buildings that are required to meet the most stringent thermal and ecological standards. However, unlike other systems currently available in Britain, it achieves those standards whilst retaining all the design flexibility and aesthetic appeal of traditional aluminium windows. Consequently, there is no need for architects, UK property owners or developers to compromise on design to achieve…

For example, French Doors offer the option of opening in or opening out, plus one can have either just one or both door leaves open at the same time. Sliding bi-folding and sliding doors open up the entire width of any wall, folding up against one another, and like double glazed French Doors can either be installed opening in or opening out, with or without a UPVC or aluminium low threshold.
No replacement door option can deliver the amount of extra glass, views, light, and sheer space efficiency of double glazed sliding patio doors. If your home overlooks a nice view or at least…

Single pane or leaky, badly fitted, or draughty windows and doors are still far too commonplace in the UK and only serve to speed up the damage being done to our planet. Global Warming is a real threat to the Earth and its inhabitants by causing ever increasing severe storms, floods and extreme droughts.
Even the UK Government’s major carbon reduction initiatives like the Green Deal presently overlook the importance of energy efficient windows and doors. The British Government still insists on collecting 20% VAT on replacement double glazing and other carbon…
Continue To Full StoryWhat has happened to British summers? The last decade has seen an erosion of the traditional warm summers in the UK, and over the last month or so the levels and intensity of precipitation have been more akin to a dreadful April than the school summer holidays.
Consequently, hundreds of thousands of British families have been restricted to spending large amounts of time indoors, which is a real shame, particularly when you consider that August is meant to be the peak of the summer holidays.
Instead of rueing the awful weather, one could use it as an opportunity to install a home glass extension as it will give you the chance to get close your garden whatever the weather. It will also give you spacious…
