LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR UPVC WINDOWS
Thinking about upgrading with our stunning range of UPVC windows? We’ve answered some common questions about our UPVC windows below to help you find your perfect replacement windows with Hazlemere.
What are UPVC windows?
The backstory of UPVC windows is an interesting one.
UPVC was identified as an ideal material for double-glazed window manufacture due to how economical, thermally efficient, and low maintenance it is.
It was from Germany that UPVC windows were introduced in the UK during the 1980’s, posing a serious challenge to the then market dominance of aluminium windows, and their popularity from that seminal period lives on.
UPVC windows have evolved an enormous amount since they first arrived over here. There are UPVC window ranges around today that convincingly mimic timber designs, for example, and colour options for UPVC windows have widened way beyond just white.
To highlight the adaptability of UPVC, almost every recognised window style is available in UPVC form, including casement windows, sash windows, tilt & turn windows, and so many more.
How long do UPVC windows last?
10 years is the minimum expected lifespan of UPVC windows, Hazlemere windows are built to last.
We wish we could tell you exactly how long UPVC windows last, but it’s impossible to say as it depends on how well they are made and fitted, where their installation takes place, the climate they face, and the maintenance they receive.
Cheap UPVC windows are susceptible to warping and discolouring quickly and won’t give you close to the value for money or quality that a reputable UPVC window installer of Hazlemere’s standing will provide.
As a definite, UPVC windows purchased from Hazlemere will perform as they’re meant to, look fantastic and last well past their installation date. To find out more about the longevity of our windows, visit our showroom.
How do you clean UPVC windows?
A small bit of attention goes a long way with UPVC windows.
UPVC windows are much lower maintenance than genuine timber window frames and it will only take up a fraction of your time to wash them down when dust and dirt forms on them.
A quarterly clean of UPVC windows will suffice if your house is situated in a town, city, or coastal area, and twice a year will do for rural-based homes.
Dust that finds its way into the hinges can be removed with a vacuum attachment and soft brush, and a soft cloth and warm water with a mild soap solution should get the window frame and sill shiny again. Please, don’t use a scouring pad or anything abrasive to clean the surface to avoid scratching it.
A few drops of a multi-purpose oil will keep the hinges well lubricated.
