Porches - individually designed and made-to-measure...

You can bring instant character to your home when you have a Porch placed at the front of your property. Front porches can create a huge visual impact; and what better addition to have when you want guests to be greeted by a stylish entrance point. They also come in handy when you want to add space, as they can often be used as somewhere you and the rest of the family can hang up their coats, store pushchairs and unbrellas, or place their muddy shoes and boots when they enter the home. If your new aluminium or UPVC double glazed Porch needs any sort of planning permission and/or Building Regulations Approval, Hazlemere have experienced experts who can assist.

How did I ever manage without a porch? That’s what will regularly come into your mind each time you utilise it for storing all those essential items of clothing you need stored near the front door upon entering and exiting your home. It will be an energy efficient storage space too as it comes fitted with the very finest double glazed windows and doors, as well as a superbly insulated roof covering. Expect it to feel warm and comfortable each time you return home and seek shelter from the cold weather outside.

Whilst a porch can in no way be compared to the extravagance of a conservatory or orangery, it will prove equally as useful as a home extension, albeit in a different way. You can expect to utilise it on a daily basis in some form or another, and it can substantially ease the burden on other areas of the house so far as storage is concerned. You’ll wonder why you hadn’t bought one sooner.

    Planning permission & building regulations...

    • If your porch is recognised as a ‘permitted development’ then you won’t have to worry about obtaining planning permission which is generally the case with most porch installations. A porch is identified as a ‘permitted development’ if it meet the following criteria: (1) the structure does not exceed three square metres; (2) no part of the porch is more than three metres above ground level; (3) no part of the porch is within two metres of any boundary of the dwelling and the highway.

    • As long as the porch measures less than thirty square metres, doesn’t adversely affect any levelled or ramped access, and remains in keeping with the original front entrance, then it will usually be excused from building regulations. The glazing and electrical fittings must also comply with the necessary building regulations.
