DIY SOS Hazlemere Windows Help Out The Big Build
From 23rd August to 1st September 2016, a specialist windows and doors team from Hazlemere Window Company Ltd proudly took part in a Big Build DIY SOS project in Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire, which just happens to be where Hazlemere Windows has one of its home improvement showrooms.
The project was to transform and enlarge a home to enable Sascha Koutrouza, a very sick former midwife to create sufficient room to enable special medical equipment to be installed, as no room in the current property was deemed large enough to be able to accommodate the much needed life changing equipment and enable the proper treatment to be undertaken in the home.
The team from Hazlemere Windows, who worked their socks off throughout the entire week of the Big Build, comprised of Senior Installer John Layton, Installation Manager Alan Layton, Operations Director Jason Bradshaw and Fitter Michal Kowalczyk, all highly experienced craftsmen and experts in fitting new windows and doors, whether as replacements or into new builders openings.
Thanks to the generosity of UPVC window and door manufacturers, Conservatory Outlet of Wakefield, and double glazed sealed unit manufacturers Nicholls and Clarke of Fareham in Hampshire, Hazlemere Window Company were able to procure the glass, window and door frames at a “mates rate” which meant they were able to donate all the products and their labour free of charge to the Welwyn Garden City family in need, being helped out by DIY SOS to give them a brighter future.
Hazlemere Windows were asked to survey, supply and install A+ energy rated UPVC double glazed windows throughout the house and in the new extension being built by the DIY SOS team and all the other tradesmen and companies who also had donated their time and resources. In addition Hazlemere supplied and fitted a double glazed aluminium bi-folding door to the new extension, to enable the Koutrouza family to open up the space when the British weather allows in the future!
The actual DIY SOS programme, showing how this Hertfordshire home is transformed (when all will be revealed) is to be broadcast on BBC 1 at 9pm on Thursday 15th June 2017.
