UltraRoof 380 is an LABC (Local Authority Building Control) and LABSS (Local Authority Building Standards Scotland) approved roof system which, put simply, means that it will be much easier to receive Building Regulations approval, should your project require it. A Hazlemere design consultant will be able to talk you through the ins-and-outs of building regulations and, in many instances, we will be able to act as an intermediary to obtain the Building Regulations approval needed on your behalf.

One of the foremost reasons why so many homeowners invest in tiled roof conservatories or orangeries is to achieve a more thermally efficient room that offers a comfortable room temperature regardless of the outdoor weather. Older conservatories fitted with a polycarbonate roof are the best example of how the room can be too cold to use in winter, and too hot to use in summer.

UltraRoof 380 is a slated roof system which uses polymer slates that are low maintenance and durable, yet look remarkably like their traditional counterparts with natural peaks and plateaux. Our polymer slate roof covering can be fitted very quickly, 12 slates at a time, and there are three colours to choose from: carbon grey, terra brick (red), and harvest brown.

There are also two types of ridge cap to choose from: an ‘armadillo’ style ridge cap which best matches the effect and colour of the polymer slates, and smooth aluminium ridge cap which is more sleek and contemporary. Many people choose the slate colour that most closely matches the roof on their main property, or which best complements their choice of glazing (if applicable) as we have glass options that come in several different tints, such as bronze, aqua and blue which offer varying light transmission and solar heat reflection.

If you choose to include glazed sections in your UltraRoof 380 design, we recommend choosing from our performance glass range so that the innate intelligence of the solid roof sections are matched by innovative glazing that also controls the transfer of heat to offer excellent thermal efficiency. Generally, there are four factors to consider when choosing a glass type:

Tint – despite the fact that all of our glass options are fully transparent, each one has a slightly different colour or ‘tint’. The subtle tint of the glass can often make a big difference to the internal ambience of the room.

U-Value – this is the measure of internal heat loss. The lower the number, the greater the level of insulation provided by the glass.

Solar Heat Reflection – this is the percentage of total solar energy (heat from the sun) that is prevented from passing through the glass into a room.

Light Transmission – this is the percentage of visible light that is directly transmitted through the glass.
