The Glazing Ombudsman officially endorsed by BIOA

The Glazing Ombudsman (TGO) has been formally accredited as an Ombudsman member by the British and Irish Ombudsman Association (BIOA), and according to the article on The Glazine is now the official ombudsman scheme for settling domestic glazing installation complaints within the United Kingdom

The Glazine article explains that “Acceptance for BIOA Ombudsman membership is based upon meeting the BIOA rules and five key criteria; the independence of the Ombudsman from those whom the Ombudsman has the power to investigate; his effectiveness; fairness; openness and transparency and public accountability.”

As a BIOA Ombudsman member, The Glazing Ombudsman is a not-for-profit, mutual company that is owned by members, with a clear focus on providing a fair and unbiased Ombudsman service. Consequently, other schemes are excluded from being members if they sell insurance or for example generate sales leads for double glazing installers. Consumers are able to locate registered installers on the Glazing Ombudsman website without providing any personal details (unlike some other schemes!). In addition the Ombudsman is neither a regulator of the industry nor a consumer champion. To date, national home improvement companies such as Anglian Home Improvements, Safestyle, Tesco Windows and Doors, Conservatory Outlet, Lister Trade Frames and Masterframe Windows have all joined The Glazing Ombudsman.

Hazlemere Window Company Ltd became TGO members in 2010 and have leaflets on display in their High Wycombe double glazing showroom about the Glazing Ombudsman scheme and it’s benefits to consumers.
