Vibrant windows & doors
Colour is a very powerful thing. It has the ability to change your mood, it can create the illusion of space and it can have a huge visual impact.
One way of injecting colour into your living space would be to have replacement windows and doors with a stand out finish installed, or you could invest in an adventurous window treatment, either some patterned curtains or sprightly-looking blinds.
White is a naturally cold colour, but most red hues are the total opposite, something to consider for this time of year, in particular, when selecting a window or door finish.
Vibrant paint
The appearance of a tired-looking feature wall, old bookcase, antique TV stand etc. can often be totally transformed just with a simple lick of paint and we’re not talking about a cream, magnolia or ivory finish.
Inspect the full colour wheel to locate colours that will work brilliantly well together and not clash – for instance, it’s very rare that a bright blue sofa will complement a canary-yellow coloured wall.
Look for colours that are adjacent on the spectrum as they will usually be harmonious with one another.
Good examples of this would be the adjacent colours of blue, green and cyan. Just imagine how calming your house will feel with those types of shades introduced.
Vibrant accessories
For a more experimental approach to instigating new colour choices, just do so with simple accessories, such as cushions, rugs and blankets.
They can easily be replaced for alternatively-coloured substitutes if you quickly change your mind about a certain colour and are the type of person with an ever evolving taste.
You could also rotate any coloured accessories depending on the seasons, and it means you won’t have to make a long-term commitment to a certain colour scheme.
