Bi-folding doors open way for excellent pig roast

I recently attended a friends 60th birthday bash at Beaconsfield SYCOB, otherwise known to the locals as Beaconsfield Football Club. This modern club boasts decent facilities and only a few years ago improved these by installing double glazed bi-folding doors and a large aluminium lean to above timber decking to a) provide a covered smoking area and b) provide more room for 60th birthday parties etc.

SYCOB is short for Slough Youth Club Old Boys which is ironic as Slough Town FC have been sharing both the stadium and the facilities. Hazlemere Window Company have sponsored Beaconsfield Football Club for the past 4 seasons and are “Official Clubhouse Sponsors”.

It was the hottest night of the year (28 degrees!) for this 60th party which featured a pig roast in the garden area beyond the wooden decking. You cannot beat spit roast pork slowly cooked with crackling! However, the extremely hot indoors temperature was able to be reduced thanks to the double glazed folding and sliding aluminium doors being fully open, allowing air in and out. Had Beaconsfield Football Club gone for the less expensive option of sliding patio doors, it is likely the opening would not have been have wide.

The beauty of bi-folding doors is that they can be ordered in a choice of configurations dependent on the intended use. The most popular type tends to be where an odd number of aluminium sections bar one slide in one direction and one single section is side hung opening in the reverse direction. Such a configuration using the Sapa Dualframe aluminium system for example gives the property owners three uses in one. Firstly, the section next to the side hinged door acts as a day to day travel door in or out, the side hinged section can then be opened to create a pair of French doors, or when the British weather permits the sliding and folding bi-folds can be fully opened up to give the maximum possible aperture.
