How To Prepare Your Home For Summer
Those cold and frosty mornings are drawing to a close which means that the summer months and warmer weather is not too far away; that’s enough to put a spring in anybody’s step (pardon the pun!).
Now that summer is looming it is the perfect time of year to make sure that your home is fully prepared for the change in temperature and in pristine condition.
Here are a few things you can do to improve your home in time for the hottest season of the year:
Clean
Have a thorough clear-out and make sure that you chuck away any rubbish that has been building up in the garage, attic, spare bedrooms, garden shed etc. A good spring clean won’t do any harm either so perhaps get your carpets cleaned and give everything in the house a good polish so that the place looks spotless.
Boiler
We can only hope that we experience fine weather over the next few months and if we do then it will allow you to utilise your heating less regularly. This gives you opportunity to get your boiler serviced so that it is in full working order once winter arrives again.
Windows and Doors
Similar to the above, less heating usage makes it an ideal time to replace any old windows and doors that may be causing heat loss, draughts and expensive energy bills. The installation of brand new thermally efficient windows and doors will even help heat your home when the sun’s out.
Garden
It’s not quite time to start mowing the lawn yet, but in the meantime you can give the garden a general tidy up and rip out any weeds and dead plants that may have manifested during the winter.
