Hazlemere’s Up-To-The-Minute Energy Efficiency Guide

Hazlemere’s Up-To-The-Minute Energy Efficiency Guide

Very recently, our new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, confirmed that the price of energy would be capped at £2,500 a year, in response to the unprecedented rise in fuel costs.

Consumer experts, Which?, say that this announcement will mean that households consuming a ‘medium’ amount of energy will save around £1,000.

That’s some relief for homeowners, but energy will still come at a high price, especially when you consider that the average energy bill cost about half the cost of the new price cap only a year or so ago.

To help you try and keep your energy costs low, Hazlemere has some energy-saving advice to share:

Take shorter showers

When it’s cold outside, it’s tempting to stay under a hot shower for longer. But try and get into the habit of quickening your showers – even by a couple of minutes will make a difference.

Setting a stopwatch is a good way of making sure you don’t overdo it. See if you can get it down to 5 minutes to get yourself clean.

Hang your wet washing outside

It’s been the driest year in living memory and if that continues during the autumn and winter, it may give you a chance to peg out your wet clothes on the washing line, instead of throwing them in a tumble dryer or placing them on your radiators.

This will also prevent a build-up of moisture inside your house, something that can cause condensation to occur on your windows.
