It’s funny how we still remember some of the old saying and jokes our school friends and parents told us………particularly the bad ones! That said, in this energy conservation age, thermally efficiency wise, a door in practical terms is not actually a door (in the energy saving sense) when it is a-jar, as obviously when open a door lets out all the energy that has been generated by the property’s heating system.
A door is also not a door when it is a-jar in the security sense either, as it is designed to provide access and egress for the property’s owner(s), visitors and guests. You don’t find many UK households today who leave their front and/or back doors unlocked at night! I do know a …
UPVC over the past 30 years has become the principle choice of material for installers when putting together conservatories, windows and doors. The affordability of UPVC is one of the reasons for its growth in popularity, as well as its weather-resistant exterior. It has surpassed many other types of material, but there are other options available at Hazlemere.
Alongside a huge selection of UPVC-based products, Hazlemere also has a wide and varied selection of Aluminium conservatories, aluminium windows and aluminium doors. The reason being is due to the fact that aluminium provides an enormous amount of strength and comes in useful when putting together home improvement products that need sturdiness.
When aluminium comes into direct contact with adverse weather it has the ability …
If the windows and doors on your property have never been replaced then they might be looking and performing way past their best. When windows become old they can be one of the main causes of heat loss within your home which can result in your energy bills increasing as you attempt to try and keep your property warm.
Aluminium windows and aluminium doors are a great way of increasing your property’s thermal efficiency. While aluminium may not be the first material you think of when you are considering home improvements you would be surprised as to just how efficient and capable it is. One of the primary reasons for this being that aluminium offers an incredible level of strength that you rarely get from …
Whenever you invite friends and family round to your home you want to make the best possible impression. You can partially do this by proving to be a good host and supplying guests with quality home-made food and of course, copious amounts of alcohol. But no matter what you do or how hard you try, if your visitors are left unimpressed with the appearance of your property it can override everything.
Hazlemere is on hand to ensure this doesn’t happen by supplying homes across the region with the finest conservatories in Oxford, conservatories in High Wycombe and conservatories in Reading. A conservatory from Hazlemere will never fail to impress as it offers the best possible form of living in the most luxurious of …
Condensation when it forms on double glazing, tends to form in ONE of three places. Either, 1) on the inside of the inside glass pane, 2) in-between the two glass panes or 3) on the outside of the outside glass pane.
Double glazed sealed units have only broken down if moisture or “misting” appears in-between the two glass panes. Any slight moisture or misting means the unit needs replacing, as over time the amount of moisture and misting will increase, making the window look unsightly. More importantly, it is clearly no longer a “sealed unit”, so will not be performing the function of a modern sealed double glazed unit, which is to keep the cold out, energy generated by your heating system in and allow …
It is not everyday that such a spacious and practical well positioned low maintenance five bedroom detached Seeleys home comes onto the market, two minutes from Beaconsfield Train Station by car (or 8 minutes walk!) that has a decent energy performance certificate, having had the cavity wall insulation and loft insulation professionally fitted on 1st February 2011.
However, what massively helps cut the costs of energy bills at the property is the high quality replacement aluminium double glazing that Hazlemere Window Company fitted back in April 1994. All the double glazed aluminium windows and doors have Pilkington K Glass, which helps retain the heat generated by the gas fired central heating system. The 17 year old white powder coated aluminium frames even to this day …
What you must not do if you have a multi-locking double glazed or triple glazed door with a split spindle. Don’t leave a key on the inside of the door like I did then go out! Because if you do you may well end up doing what I recently did – locking myself out of my house. This is doubly embarrassingly given i) I work for an independent double glazing manufacturer and installer and ii) this is not the first time I have managed to lock myself out!
I achieved this magnificent feat by leaving my front door key in the lock on the inside of the door and proceeded to shut the front door behind. Now stuck outside, I was unable to get back …
In Winter, when days are colder and darker, the last place you want to be couped up in at home on a weekend after a hard week’s work is in a room with very little natural daylight. If it were me, I’d want to be relaxing in the room that offered the most warmth and daylight, namely a thermally efficient double glazed aluminium or UPVC conservatory or orangery, as whatever the level of daylight on any day these modern structures allow the light to flood in.
If you have been living in your house for a considerable amount of time you may find that living space is at a premium as since then you may have had children or simply accumulated an enormous amount of …
